FAQ - Do not skip this!
Q: If I finish this program, am I automatically a supervisor?
A: No. The 40 hour LCSW Supervisor Course is not a certification course. Upon completing this program, participants seeking the clinical supervisor credential must still meet the criteria mandated in their state regulations, apply, and pay all applicable fees. State licensing boards have ultimate jurisdiction.
Q: Is this course approved by the Texas LCSW licensing board? I remember that courses must be taught by approved providers only.
A: There is long answer to this:
In 2019 the law requiring the 40 hour LCSW supervisor training to be offered only by an approved provider was eliminated. Now, the Social Work board does not pre-approve CE providers or supervisor training courses.
The workshop version of our 40 hour LPC/LMFT Supervisor Course was audited and approved by the Texas LPC Board in 2016. 2024 is the first year we're offering the LCSW Supervisor Course, so we have high hopes that we'll pass any audits that come our way in the future.
The Social Work board requires the course instructor to be a Council-approved LCSW Supervisor and Dr. Stephens is a LCSW Supervisor.
Additionally, the Texas Social Work regulations require LCSW Supervisor training courses to meet certain criteria. We encourage you to preview the Syllabus so you can see exactly how the Kate Walker Training 40 Hour Social Work Supervisor Training meets or exceeds Texas Social Work standards.
Q: I didn't think we could take the 40 hour LCSW Supervisor Course completely online. Did that law change too?
A: It did indeed in 2019.
Q: Other courses offer free tools and resources after participants graduate. Does this course?

Q: I have been a fully licensed Texas LCSW for two years. I can be a supervisor, right?
A: It is up to the Social Work board, but Texas Social Work rules stipulate you must hold your LCSW license for two years before they will process your LCSW Supervisor application.
If you are a Texas LCSW and take the 40 hour LCSW Supervisor Course if, upon successful completion, you can say either:
I have been an LCSW licensed for two years
or
-
I have been licensed less than two years and I will submit my CE certificate when I have met the two year requirement
-
then you can may be able to become a board-approved supervisor.
Q: So, how long is this course good for to use for my supervisor designation?
A: For social workers, the board eliminated all timelines about when you had to apply for your supervisor designation after taking the course. At this time, you can apply for your designation at any point in the future after successful completion of the course.
Q: I'm on a payment plan. Can I get Fast Track grading?
A: No. Fast track is not available with payment plans. Also, if you are on a payment plan you will get your certificate after your final payment has been made.
Q: How long can I take to complete the 40 Hour LCSW Supervisor Training?
A: The Social Work board specifies you have 90 days to complete the course requirements. At Kate Walker Training we start the 90-day clock when you purchase the course.
If you complete the course in 90 days or less, your certificate will look like this:
If you finish all the assignments in more than 90 days your certificate will look like this:
Q: I signed up for the course and it has been 89 days and I don’t think I’m going to finish in time. What happens if I don’t?
A: We start the clock when you purchase the course and we cannot extend the time.
Q: I turned everything in on day 89. If my instructor takes too long to check my work can I get an extension/refund/discount?
A: No. Graders have up to 10 business days per assignment to verify your work. Also, our graders don't work after business hours and on some national and religious holidays. We recommend you turn in your last assignment no less than 10 business days before your course ends.
Q: I purchased the 40 hour LCSW Supervisor Course and I realize now I just don’t have time. Can I get a refund?
A: Unfortunately no. The 40 hour LCSW Supervisor Course is non-refundable because the material is considered to be ‘consumed’ as soon as you purchase it. Please see our terms and conditions regarding the purchase of e-goods.
Q: If I don't finish in 90 days, can I just re-purchase this course again?
A: No. We cannot give the impression to the licensing boards that we extended the 90 days via a course re-purchase.
Q: But I thought when I purchased the course I was purchasing the certificate. Right?
A: No. When you purchase this course you are NOT purchasing a certificate. Rather you are purchasing an opportunity to earn a certificate.
