Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If I finish this program, am I automatically a supervisor?

A: No. The 30 Hour LMFT Supervisor Course is not a certification course. Upon completing this program, participants seeking the clinical supervisor credential must still meet the criteria mandated in their state regulations, apply, and pay all applicable fees. State licensing boards have ultimate jurisdiction.

Q: Is this course approved by the Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy (BMFT)?

A: Unlike some states, Minnesota BMFT provides formal approval for supervisor training programs. This course is designed to meet the 30-hour requirement set forth in Minnesota Rules 5300.0160. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of completion that includes our Board-Approved Provider information to submit with your supervisor application. Additional requirements include: 18 CEs Ethics, 30 CEs Supervision, 4 CEs Cultural Competency.

Q: What are the other requirements to be a Qualified Clinical Supervisor in Minnesota?

A: From Minnesota Rule 5300.0160, an applicant for supervisor status must:

  1. Be licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota.

  2. Have at least four years of full-time, post-licensure clinical practice (or the equivalent part-time).

  3. Have completed at least 4,000 hours of post-licensure clinical practice.

  4. Complete 30 clock hours of board-approved supervision training (this course fulfills this requirement).

  5. Be in good standing with the Board.

When you complete the course, your certificate will look like this:

Q: I purchased the Supervisor Course and I realize now I just don’t have time. Can I get a refund?

A: Unfortunately no. The Supervisor Course is non-refundable because the material is considered to be ‘consumed’ as soon as you purchase it. Please see our terms and conditions regarding the purchase of e-goods.

Q: But I thought when I purchased the course I was purchasing the certificate?

A: No. When you purchase this course you are NOT purchasing a certificate. Rather you are purchasing an opportunity to earn a certificate.

Lack of integrity/cheating/being disrespectful to graders will result in immediate removal from the course and legal action if necessary. Some examples of cheating/lack of integrity are:

  • Disputing charges if you are on a payment plan or fail to earn a certificate

  • Re-purchasing the course under another email if you failed to earn a certificate

  • Plagiarism

Q: I didn't pass one of the quizzes. Did I fail the course?

A: No. The completion of a home study program must be verified by the completion of an assessment or quiz demonstrating that the participant completed the program. According to NBCC requirements, the quiz should be difficult enough to assess learning but should not be designed to trick or overly burden the participant. If you fail a quiz you'll have an opportunity to go back and review the material, and retake the quiz, and pass the course.

Q: I'm not great at technology. Should I take this course?

A: Online courses aren’t for everyone.

Without the right equipment and software, they can be downright frustrating. Here are some things we’ve learned from our community over the years that might help.
For the best online experience…equipment, operating systems, and updates matter.

Please make sure your operating system on your device is the latest version. Be sure to update your browser, word processing applications, and whatever applications you plan to use.

If you discover your operating system is no longer supported, please do not purchase this course until you are able to access a device with a valid operating system.

We use file uploads (pdf, word doc, Google doc), Google Forms, and video links.

You don't need to be a computer expert, but you must know how to save files, upload files, use Google Forms, and create a video with your phone or with Zoom.

Our support staff can walk you through the basics, but they are not trained in IT support.

Email

Email can be tricky so we have an online form to start the process. When you go to katewalkertraining.com/support you'll get a confirmation that your ticket was received and you can track the progress of your concern from start to finish.
